This is not your typical dungeon crawl. Unique intuitive and Euro-style mechanics that support deep tactical and strategic decisions combined with strong co-operation and a dark and deeply emmersive theme put Perdition’s Mouth in its own category. Widely praised for its gameplay and uniqueness by players of the first edition.
The game designers of Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift (Timo Multamäki, Thomas Klausner and Kevin Wilson) set out to implement a new kind of dungeon crawl. One that embraces the European school of game design with clever mechanisms which emphasizes strategy while minimizing luck. Cooperation, planning and the enemy response deck eliminate the need for chucking dice, creating a tense combat environment with meaningful decisions! The rondels provide another tactical layer, including the enemy’s devious and challenging AI.
We are doing a second printing of the original Perdition’s Mouth board game! This will be a Revised Edition, meaning error corrections and new content, but no changes to the fine-tuned gameplay we all love. So fans that missed the first campaign can join the fight against the Cult. And those having the first print can sign in for an Upgrade Pack.

YOU ARE FANTASTIC

We want to thank you all so much. That was quite the final couple of hours. Following our update earlier today, when I told you you’d unlocked two more stretch goals, you knocked out another three stretch goals and a social media goal. We finished with 972 backers pledging a total of $91,298. This is amazing. Yes, we know about Gloomhaven, 7th Continent, Kingdom Death: Monster and Gloom of Kilforth but those games are exceptions. Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift is not in their league (yet) as far as awareness goes and conventional wisdom says that you don’t go to Kickstarter for reprints. Especially not so soon after the first edition.
So, thankyou to our returning backers - it means a lot that you continue to support us. Thankyou, too, to our new backers - welcome to the family. We’re really glad that you found the game and that you chose to join us. It’s fantastic to surpass the total raised in our first campaign.
You want to know about that new content though, right?
First, you unlocked two new treasure cards. These will go into the treasure deck in the base game. Next, you unlocked another new scenario and two more treasure cards for the base game. Finally you added another scenario and an extra Chil’een miniature to The Hideout expansion.
You also unlocked the two new treasure cards that were the social media goal, using Facebook. As promised, we’ll put a poll up for these on BGG soon. Through the course of the campaign you’ve added a lot of content to a game that already gave you over a hundred hours worth of play to experience everything.
What happens now?
We started preparing everything in Backerkit last week. We should have it all up and running by 6th December and we’ll let you know when that happens. In the meantime, if you know someone who desperately wants to pledge but somehow missed the campaign, let them know that we’ll accept late pledges by paypal between now and Backerkit opening. This should be sent to [email protected].
We’ll aim to send you updates once a week to keep you abreast of progress and what we’re up to. If we miss a week at any point, don’t panic, it will likely be because there’s no news. In the meantime, one of our backers has created a Facebook group for the game. The BGG forums are pretty active but we welcome all platforms for our fans and players to discuss the game and we’ll try to keep up over there too. Why not join in?
Thanks, once again, to all of you who joined us for the final live stream this afternoon and to all of you who pledged. We’ll be in touch again soon.

We’re into the final 48 hours of our campaign. It’s pretty well established that the first 48 and last 48 hours are when Kickstarter campaigns attract the most pledges so we’re hoping that you can help catapult us over the line in style.
You’ve been great. We funded in under a day and we started knocking out stretch goals and social media goals with some regularity. You’ve added extra curse cards for your new hero, Raven. You’ve made the game available as fully localised versions in German, Italian and Spanish. You’ve added 3 extra scenarios. You’ve added 3 extra miniatures. You’ve added an adventurer mode with easier stats for the enemies. You’ve unlocked digital versions of the rulebooks. You’ve added the 13th hero cards to every copy of the game. You’ve added an extra sheet clarifying the trader rules. You’ve even added three extra scenarios and 6 extra cards to The Hideout expansion.
Are you exhausted reading that? It seems like a lot, doesn’t it? But there’s so much more you could have! Our next stretch goal is for another double-sided map board and 2 scenarios. This was meant to be part of the 1st edition but we missed this stretch goal then. We’ll be really excited WHEN you unlock it this time.
There are also lots of other stretch goals still to come as well. Let’s see how many we can unlock.
Then there are the social media goals. Unlocking these is so easy and it helps spread the word about the campaign so it’s a double benefit. We need another 94 shares on Facebook and another 184 ratings on BGG. That sounds like a lot but it really isn’t - even the biggest one on BGG. There are seven expansions for Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift listed on BGG. If 23 more people rate the game and its expansions that unlocks the final BGG goal. There are over 800 people backing this game now - 92 shares of posts on our Facebook page should be equally easily achievable.
I covered in detail how to do this back in updates XXXX but remember, what we’re counting on Facebook is shares of our posts, not likes or followers.
We’ll also throw in a bonus Twitter goal - if we can hit 666 Twitter followers we’ll unlock a social media goal!
We’ll see you at the finish line - which will covered in the final live stream of the campaign, on Saturday November 18th at 2pm UTC.

We’re bracing ourselves for an explosive end to the campaign. You may have seen banner adverts on BGG or on Facebook in the last day or so as we try to draw in more backers to help us fight the insectoid god. If you know someone who’s still on the fence about the game or if there’s someone you still haven’t told about it, now’s the time to do so. We’re really excited by the prospect of finally printing the extra map and scenarios that were intended to be part of the base game campaign as far back as our first Kickstarter. You have it in your power to do this - let’s unlock this stretch goal and see how many more we can get before the campaign ends on Saturday.
We continue to get more media content about Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift and the latest is from Slickerdrips. You can hear his first impressions of the game and watch his playthrough of the 2-player variant here:
We’re also already getting a jump on production and can give you a sneak preview of the new scenario layout that we'll be using in the revised edition.
We think this is much clearer than the previous layout, grouping key information where it can be seen at a glance, and it also provides us with more space for scene-setting stories and scenario-specific rules.
Help us hit the final stretch goals and social goals by rating the game and its expansions on BGG, retweeting on Twitter and using the hashtag #dragondawnprod, as well as sharing our posts on Facebook. You can find more details on how to do that, if you need them, in updates 4-6.

Tactics with Tinsku

Hello everyone,
Seeing as there have been some questions about the scenario pack and wishes for more gameplay streams we would like to indulge you.
Since I am involved in both I offered Lee a break from his normal update duty to see if I could fill you in and answer some common questions.
First of all we would like to thank you all for being so responsive and providing us with the idea of an extra scenario pack in the first place.
I've been thinking for a while about creating a more accessible first foray into the dungeon of the insectoid god and when your request came we decided to make it a mini campaign that we would offer separately.
The plot of this four part quest is that a group of young children has been taken captive by the devious cult to be sacrificed in a dark rite.
The heroes have been asked to bring them back and find themselves chasing a mysterious acolyte carrying a torch who seems to be showing them the way.
This campaign will take place over the first four levels of the Abyssal Rift and has a much lower estimated playing time then the full campaign of Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift. Partly because of the more limited scope (four levels as opposed to the normal eight) and partly because of the lower difficulty (fewer replays of scenarios are to be expected).
Since this add-on scenario pack came into the picture during the campaign we thought it would be better not to add another pledge level (there are quite a few already).
Instead we would like to ask those who are interested to add funds now or in the pledge manager and then specify in the pledge manager what the money is for.
If you have any further inquiries about the scenario pack feel free to write in the comments and I, or some other team member, will answer your question.
Last but not least I would like to remind everyone that Tinsku and I will be doing a live stream today at 17.00 UTC.
As some of you might know, Tinsku is Timo’s wife and has been deeply involved in the long process leading up to the creation of Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift. She is known to regularly defy the dreads in the lair of the insectoid god with her husband and son Väinö. For their family Perdition’s Mouth is a family game.
We will be discussing some strategies going into a scenario and look at a few tactical situations and how they can be handled.
The chat as always is open and we encourage you to drop by and ask your questions or write them to us before hand.

Tea Time with Timo

This is just a quick update to remind you that the next live stream, with Timo, is starting shortly - at 5pm UTC. Timo will be live for around 45 minutes answering your questions about the localisation of Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift and how that’s costed. It’s a fortuitous bit of timing as it looks like you’re about to unlock the Spanish and Italian language versions.
More Audio and Video Content
Since writing yesterday, Rolling Solo have released an unboxing video of the 1st edition. We’re quite proud of our component quality so we always enjoy watching these.
We’ve also just become aware that Ding & Dent discussed Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift on their podcast eight months ago! We’re not quite sure how we missed this but since it’s new to us, we thought maybe some of you haven’t heard it either. If you want to skip ahead to where they talk about Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift it begins at 00:23:20.
We’re expecting to show you a lot more video content in the final week of our campaign. We've put a lot of effort into partnering with a variety of content creators and this output will continue after the campaign including, for example, reviews of The Hideout and Witch’s Grotto expansions by someone who’s already released a respected review of the base game.
We’ll be back with a bigger update tomorrow but don’t forget you can suggest treasure cards for our next social goal on BGG and in the comments for yesterday’s update. You can help us unlock that goal by rating the game and its expansions on BGG, retweeting on Twitter and using the hashtag #dragondawnprod, as well as sharing our posts on Facebook. You can find more details on how to do that, if you need them, in updates 4-6.
